After what feels like an eternity in lockdown here in London, I imagine I’m not the only one desperate for a return to normality. And for me, that often means getting glammed up on a Friday night and heading out to a cool new restaurant or – even better – an exciting immersive dinner show in London.

So you can imagine just how thrilled I was to be invited along to the launch night of The London Cabaret Club’s new show ‘London Never Dies’ for a night of glitz, glamour and high-stakes espionage.

Launching from early June for summer 2021, the revamped show is a thrilling dining and entertainment experience that encourages guests to channel their inner ‘super-spy’ and be transported into the glamorous world of 007.

Pre-Dinner Cocktails

With an optional formal/black-tie dress code – let’s be honest, why wouldn’t you jump at the chance to get dressed up after a year in your PJs!? – the entire evening screams elegance and sophistication from start to finish.

Arriving at the beautiful Art Deco Bloomsbury Ballroom, which dates back to the 1920s, you’re greeted by a well-dressed host who leads you into the cocktail lounge for pre-dinner drinks with some light pre-show entertainment.

Dinner

After a couple of martinis, guests are then moved into the ballroom for dinner and the main show.

There are three different dining options depending on your ticket:

  • Silver Plus – 3 tapas dishes per person
  • Gold – gourmet 3 course dinner
  • Diamond – canapés on arrival, VIP 3 course dinner & themed cocktail
  • Royal diamond – canapés on arrival, VIP 4 course dinner, themed cocktail & half bottle of Moet Chandon

All of the food is designed and prepared by head chef Burim Asllanaj, a talented culinary expert with over 20 years of experience, to match the elegant Bond theme.

We kept things simple with the tapas dishes which were all delicious and the perfect accompaniment to our wine and cocktails. For a special occasion or date night, the 3 course dinner adds a special touch to the night, but for a fun evening out with friends, the tapas plates are more than filling enough.

The Show

With dinner being served, it was time for the part of the evening I’d been looking forward to the most.

‘London Never Dies’ is a glamorous cabaret show featuring some of London’s most talented West-End performers. The show sees singers, dancers and even gravity-defying acrobats perform amazingly choreographed routines to iconic tracks from the Bond movies.

From the beautiful costumes to the amazing 4D lighting effects, the spectacular show is like being fully immersed into an opening scene from your favourite Bond movie.

The intimate setting in the ballroom also means you’re far closer to the action than you’d be at a regular West End show. Plus, the performers often head out into the audience to create an even more immersive experience.

The After Party

What’s more, the night isn’t over when the show finishes.

At 11pm the dancers are replaced on the central stage by a DJ who continues the after-party until late into the night. So you can enjoy a few more martinis and dance the night away (as long as you stay by your table/group – COVID style). The after-party is probably about as close as you’ll come to being in a nightclub again this summer!
