Hi, I’m Emily

A 30-something born and raised London girl.

I’m originally from north London and have since lived in Notting Hill, Earls Court, and Fulham.

I studied for my master’s degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology at University College London.

After university, I spent three years working in the sponsorship department of a large London advertising firm.

I started London City Calling in 2016 in order to use my lifetime of London knowledge to help other locals and visitors also make the most of this amazing city that I get to call home.

I’m rarely spotted without a denim jacket – I thought I’d just point this out before you spot the running theme for yourself!

My Freelance Story

Despite my love of London, I quickly came to realise that the classic 9-5 city office job wasn’t for me.

So in 2018, I quit my full-time job to go freelance and have more freedom to travel and pursue my passion for writing.

While there have been plenty of ups and downs along the way, it’s been an unbelievable few years.

I’m now enjoying life working part-time on my blog and part-time as a freelance SEO content writer.

For the last several years I’ve been living as a digital nomad, which means that I don’t have a home base and work online while travelling the world full-time.

No matter where I travel, London is still and will always be my absolute favourite place in the world!

A few of my favourite things to do in London are;

Hunting out the city’s weirdest and most unique restaurants.
Getting some writing done at one of Shoreditch’s hipster coffee shops or cool coworking spaces.
Perusing the eclectic selection of stalls at Camden Market.
Heading out for a night at the theatre in the West End.
Attending absolutely every London Christmas market and pop-up event I possibly can throughout December.

My Travels

Over the last several years I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some of the most amazing destinations across the world, from living in Italy, Spain, Turkey, Bali, and Australia to travelling my way across China, India, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
