If you live in London, or simply use Instagram, the likelihood is you’ve seen this summer’s big dessert craze… bubble waffles!

Originating from Hong Kong, bubble waffles were created as a way of using up the broken eggs that would otherwise be wasted, which is why they are known in Hong Kong as egg waffles.

The Bubble Takeover

Back in early spring 2017 Bubblewrap Waffle opened its doors on Wardour Street, serving up beautifully presented waffles filled with tasty toppings, and Londoners went absolutely crazy for them!

In fact, if you wanted to get your hands on one just a couple of months ago you’d have to stand in queue for around 2 hours (trust me, I did it!).

However, due to their monumental popularity, the London bubble waffle scene has since exploded, with several stores (predominantly in Soho) serving up the delicious treats.

Bubble + Waffle = BUFLE

This month, the bubble waffle game was taken up a notch as Bufle became the first place to offer a dedicated restaurant experience.

The store on Rupert Street in Soho has a seating area, with swings as seats, a waffle station, where you can watch the waffles being made, and even a cocktail bar serving the likes of matcha mojitos and plum wine sours.

What’s more, Bufle is open until midnight every day! Late night waffle? Yes please!

You can either pick a waffle from the menu, such as the Oreo Delight or Funky Cereal Club, or create your own from the large selection of gelatos, biscuits, fruit, funky toppings and sauces.

Once each creation is complete they are topped with a small dollop of Italian meringue and browned using a blowtorch.

TIP: The forrero rocher gelato is a must-try!

Bubbles and Bubbles

From the 18th to 31st July, Bufle have a special offer of a bubble waffle and glass of bubbles for just £10! So get down there ASAP.

Find Bufle at 19 Rupert Street, Soho, near Piccadilly Circus, W1D 7PA.

Just one word was uttered from seeing pictures of this place and its food: WOW. I was so close to it this past week and yet I never had time to go around Soho and find it! Next time I’m in London I will surely visit 🙂
