We can all agree that Christmas in London is a pretty magical time. The many amazing light displays, numerous Christmas markets and fun Winter pop-ups to get everyone into the festive mood.
Today I thought I’d share a hidden gem and one of my favourite places to go in London to get myself into the festive spirit… Crews Hill Nurseries.
Christmas at Crews Hill Nurseries
Crews Hill, which lies on the outer edge of Enfield, can be reached by train from central London by heading up to Finsbury Park then jumping on the overground towards Hertford North (if you’ve been to Alexandra Palace before you’ll know the route!).
Directly outside of the station, you’ll find a lovely row of local garden centers and nurseries which truly come into their own during the month of December.
Shops that throughout the year specialise in plants, garden features, interior furnishings and pets suddenly transform into a magical world of Christmas trees, decorations, lights, festive gifts, food and even Christmas clothing.
The Crews Hill Nurseries are a one-stop-shop for everything you need to stock up on for the festive period.
Christmas Wonderland at Springtime Nursery
One of the largest attractions on the road is Springtime nursery, or as it’s known in December Christmas Wonderland, which features one of the biggest Santa’s grotto in Europe.
After being greeted by real reindeer, a giant snow globe and an indoor ice rink, you can jump on the ‘Santa’s Express’ train which takes you through 20 festive scenes before reaching the grotto itself where Father Christmas hands out presents to each child.
Spending an afternoon wandering around the Nurseries has become a Christmas tradition for me, and definitely, somewhere I’d recommend going to get into the festive spirit!
Finish with a Christmas Roast
To finish off a festive day out at the Crews Hill Nurseries, what better than a big Great British roast dinner!?
Just up the road from the Nurseries, you’ll find Toby Carvery Whitewebb House where every day of the week you’ll find a feast of hand-carved meats with all of the tasty trimmings!
