On the top three floors of 20 Fenchurch Street, or as it is otherwise known ‘The Walkie Talkie’ due to its distinctive shape, lies the spectacular Sky Garden and its breathtaking views across the city.

Inside the unique roof-top gardens are two restaurants, two bars and an outdoor viewing platform boasting some of the best free views of London.

Entry to the Sky Garden is free but must be booked in advance here.

This weekend I headed on an early Valentine’s double date to Darwin Brasserie, which is one of the luxurious restaurants located on the 36th floor of 20 Fenchurch Street.

Being Sunday afternoon we opted for the brunch set menu, which included a starter, main, unlimited dessert and a glass of prosecco or bloody mary for £44.50 pp.

The Food at Darwin Brasserie

For starters, I went for the Red Onion Tart Tatin with cheese, walnut and wild rocket, and for main the Homemade Beef Burger. Other options included eggs benedict and beef sirloin. My first course was definitely the best part of the meal for me. Considering I rarely choose anything which doesn’t contain meat, the red onion tart was unbelievably tasty and certainly the right choice.

The burger was also excellent, with the braised short rib and seeded bun giving it a somewhat unique flavour.

The unlimited dessert was a great way to end the meal, being able to sample the lemon meringue pie, banoffee pie and chocolate brownie, all of which were delicious.

Once dinner was finished we walked around the gardens and watched the sunset over the city from the viewing platform, a romantic end to a lovely afternoon.
