‘…contains nudity, strong language and fire…’

Any dinner invitation which comes with warnings of nudity and fire is one that immediately peaks my interest, especially when the dress code is ‘non-binary and clothing optional’.

Dionysus and Aphrodite

It’s safe to say that I decided to take the clothing option for my evening at Divine Proportions (the tube ride would have been pretty awkward otherwise), however that didn’t stop the night from being any less risqué.

Aphrodite

Divine Proportions is an immersive dinner experience at The Vaults by female-led production company Shotgun Carousel, aiming to blur the lines between feast and fantasy and take their guests on a mythological journey to heaven and back with the most notorious of the Greek deities.

Dionysus

After first being welcomed into a mythical subterranean land by a band of chanting sirens, you are greeted by the host of the evening – Dionysus, the Greek God (or in this case Goddess) of wine, theatre, fertility, ritual madness and ecstasy.

Aphrodite

Following a few raunchy ritual performances, Dionysus lures you through a secret sparkling tunnel and up to the enchanting Mount Olympus where the real feasting begins.

White chocolate, coconut milk and honey ganache

Sat on long communal tables, guests are served a 5-course dinner fit for a God. Starting with sourdough focaccia, olives and pickles, followed by pink sea bass ceviche, roast guinea fowl with potatoes and vegetables, and finally a white chocolate, coconut milk and honey ganache. Accompanied by a cocktail of cardamom vodka, Reisling bitters, Limoncello and turmeric.

Persephone

It is also on Mount Olympus where you are joined by the quirky Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation, and seductress Persephone, Goddess of the Underworld and wife of Hades, who accompany Dionysus in keeping you entertained throughout the night.

Be prepared to enjoy your meal along with an array of alluring songs, erotic dancing, sensual strip teases and even the involvement of hot candle wax.

And after all of this and the meal is finished, the party still isn’t over for these Goddesses. Sell your soul to Persephone and accompany her down to the Underworld where the entertainment continues and the bar remains open late into the evening.
