In a time when eating out is all the rage and new restaurants are opening their doors every day, standing out in a saturated market of talented chefs is becoming a more and more difficult achievement, even for the pros.

So over the last decade, many top chefs have turned to other means of keeping their name out there away from the kitchen, from writing cookbooks to staring in their own TV programmes or appearing as judges on popular cooking shows such as Master Chef.

But in the era of the ‘celebrity chef’, do their namesake restaurants still live up to the hype or are they letting their standards slip? We’re certainly not short of celebrity chef restaurants in London, but how do you choose which one’s are really worth visiting?

After careful deliberation, I’ve put together this guide to London’s best restaurants brought to you by some of the world’s top celebrity chefs that certainly do live up to the hype…

Celebrity Chef: Heston Blumenthal

Probably the best-known of the celebrity chef restaurants in London, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal serves one of the city’s most famous and most photographed dishes.

The restaurant’s signature meat fruit – consisting of smooth chicken-liver pâté concealed in orange mandarin jelly – is cleverly designed to resemble an actual mandarin. Who hasn’t seen it on Instagram at least once!?

But there’s far more to the famous British chef’s London hotspot than this one dish. The elegant and sophisticated restaurant, located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge, has a unique menu inspired by historic British gastronomy, creatively brought into the twenty-first century.

As well as its 2 Michelin stars, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal has won numerous awards and accolades, including regularly featuring high in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards.

Murano features a deliberately informal atmosphere, with an emphasis on ‘fun’ rather than ‘fine’ dining and a menu that allows the diner to choose any number of dishes in the order they pick.
