Patty and Bun | The Best Burger in London (…and chicken wings too!)

When I first moved back to London, after spending 3 years in Oxford at University, the first restaurant I ate out at was Patty and Bun James Street. A friend of mine was raving about how amazing Patty and Bun’s burgers were and insisted that we tried it as soon as possible.

At this point Patty and Bun was just a baby on the London food scene and didn’t have the 9 locations they have today, however news of their delicious burgers had travelled fast and the queue for the James Street burger joint was out of the door.

After waiting over half an hour for a table I finally got to see what all the fuss was about. That was the day P&B became my favourite burger in London, and nothing has beaten it since!

Patty and Bun Locations

As well as the Patty and Bun James Street location (Marylebone), the burger joint now has restaurants all across London.

• Redchurch Street – Shoreditch
• Goodge Street – Fitzrovia
• Richmond Road – Hackney
• Swingers LND (indoor golf venue) – City
• The Prince West Brompton – Earls Court
• Pergola on the Roof (Summer only)

The inside of the restaurants are all rather minimalist but quirky, with small wooden tables and chairs, neon branding and wall decorations painted on cardboard.

Patty and Bun Menu

The James Street menu is simple with 7 burgers, 8 sides, a few sauces and a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks. The menu varies slightly from store to store so check online for your local. Burgers cost between £8 – £9, whilst sides vary from £3 – £6.

My favourite thing to order has to be the classic ‘ARI GOLD’ Cheeseburger or ‘Smokey Robinson’ Burger accompanied by the ‘Winger Winger Chicken Dinner’ (Patty and Bun’s mouthwatering chicken wings) and Chips with Roast Chicken Mayo & Chicken Skin Salt, however, everything on the menu is delicious and worth a try!

The beef is succulent and always cooked to perfection, whilst the chicken wings are heavenly and just melt in your mouth.

One important thing to remember is that the food at Patty and Bun is extremely messy, so unless you are super confident and can rock the grease-covered lower face and hands look I’d avoid P&B on the first couple of dates.
